Boker must have been watching my work because they finally came out with a midi razor which I have been offering for years. It's called the 'The Celebrated 'Maserbirke' translated in English 'Curly Birch'.
The edge measures 2.5" which is the equivalent of my 'midi razors'. In full disclosure I was inspired by Dubl Duck Special Nº1 which has been around much longer than most of us. I measured the razor to be 7/8. It has a beveled spine and comes with curly birch wooden scales. The wood of the curly birch is indigenous to Northern Europe. My only complaint would be the flimsy, lightweight scales that flop around from the moment you take the razor out the box. This is also one of the reasons I don't recommend wooden scales.
Boker has really stepped up their game and knocked this one out of the park. The razor is flawless and gorgeous. It's a full hollow that measures 7/8. Two thumbs up though and kudos to Boker for being innovative although they must have copied the smaller sized razor from somewhere or someone. It truly shows how Dovo is lagging behind in both fit and finish and how Boker is improving their dominance in the shaving world.
These are high end razors for beginners or seasoned straight razor users that take a fine edge when properly honed. Boker razors come standard with a factory edge but are nowhere near a true professionally honed razor's edge. I advise you to either purchase the razor from a reputable store that sells the razor as 'shave ready' or you can order a honing service straight from my web site to have it professionally honed/sharpened especially if you are starting out with your first straight razor shave.
