The scales are 100% genuine mother of pearl shell on a white backing and covered with a durable topcoat of industrial resin making them very sturdy, maintenance free and at the same time protecting the shell.
Abalone/Paua is a common name for any of a group of small to very large sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Haliotidae.
