Blue Opal
Blue opal is a variety of the gemstone opal that comes in shades of opaque blue and blue-green. Blue opal gemstones are not a mineral, like other gemstones, but an amorphous mineraloid. Meaning, the chemical composition is composed of microcrystalline silica spheres that layer to refract the blue light spectrum!
 
The scales are 100% genuine Paua shell on a blue backing and covered with a durable topcoat of industrial resin making them very sturdy, maintenance free and at the same time protecting the shell.
