Mokume Gane (wood grained metal) originated in Japan in the 17th century as a mixed metal laminate with distinctive layered wood grain type patterns creating spectacular decorations for Samurai Swords. The first recorded use of mokume gane was by Denbei Shoami (1651-1728) who lived and worked in Japan. Shoami adapted the principles of forge-welded Damascus steel to create mokume gane. Mokume Gane comes at a price, just like Damascus as it's very time consuming and expensive to make.

This Carbon Fiber is comprised of a woven twill material throughout all of the layers of the laminate. It has a glossy finish on both sides. Tiny micro voids or pits on any carbon fiber finish (natural, satin or glossy) is normal when present and pretty much unavoidable.

Opal

Because opal has the colors of other gems, the Romans thought it was the most precious and powerful of all. The Bedouins believed that opals contained lightning and fell from the sky during thunderstorms. Australia’s mines began to produce opals commercially in the 1890s. Most Opals origin from either Australia or Ethiopia.

White Mother Of Pearl

Pinctada Maxima is the largest and rarest of all pearl oysters. There are two different color varieties: the white-lipped oyster known as mother of pearl (MOP) and the gold-lipped oyster known as gold mother of pearl (Gold-Lip). It occurs naturally only in the warm tropical South Pacific waters of the Arafura Sea (off Northern Australia), Eastern and Northern Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and Northern Thailand and to the east to Fiji and Tahiti. Another well known variety is blacklip mother of pearl (Pinctada Margaritifera), which is probably one of the most exclusive pearls in demand in todays inlay market. Blacklip comes from small shells found in French Polynesia around Tahiti and its Archipelagos.
