This hand made razor is ready to ship without the waiting time and is ready to ship. You can place a custom order if you would like a similar or different straight razor made if it's not available anymore. Order placed on Friday are shipped the following Monday.
It's very difficult to accurately capture the exact colors of the scales because shell is very iridescent and changes hue at every angle. Same applies to the opal inlay.
The scales are 100% genuine mother of pearl shell on a white backing and covered with a durable topcoat of industrial resin making them very sturdy, maintenance free and at the same time protecting the shell.
Opal
Because opal has the colors of other gems, the Romans thought it was the most precious and powerful of all. The Bedouins believed that opals contained lightning and fell from the sky during thunderstorms. Australia’s mines began to produce opals commercially in the 1890s.
Most Opals origin from either Australia or Ethiopia.
