Hitachi ao-gami blue paper steel features a high carbon steel core with 16 low carbon steel outer layers. It is basically the same as shiro-gami (white) but with added tungsten and chrome. This is a very popular steel used in forging high end Japanese kitchen knives. Many users point to the fact the cutting edge lasts a long time.
